About
Welcome to Trattoria La Pireina, a delightful gem nestled in the heart of Piacenza, Italy. Located at Via Borghetto, 137, this charming trattoria embodies the essence of authentic Italian dining. With a commitment to local flavors, Trattoria La Pireina serves as a testament to the rich culinary heritage of the Piacentino region.
Step inside, and you're greeted by the warm ambiance and friendly service celebrated by patrons like Vilmos Dohnal, who notes the genuine hospitality as part of the experience. But it’s the food that truly shines here. The duo of local pastas, as recommended by customer Maria Silvestri, offers a perfect introduction to the region’s culinary delights. Don’t overlook the lard accompanying your bread; it’s a must-try that enhances the entire meal.
The menu also features an array of cold cuts that receive high praise, particularly the prosciutto plate, which PJ Herring describes as “delicious.” Such offerings reflect the trattoria's dedication to quality ingredients and traditional preparations, making each dish a loving homage to Italian cuisine.
Despite its rustic charm, as highlighted by Galyna Kachan, the portions tend to be on the smaller side, but they are perfectly sufficient to satisfy. This is a place where the focus is on good food rather than extravagant decor—ideal for those seeking a genuine meal without pretense.
For those who may have visited years ago, like Edoardo Fittipaldi, the experience remains consistently excellent. With an ever-growing selection of wines, there's something to complement every dish, making each visit a delightful culinary journey. Trattoria La Pireina isn't just a meal; it’s a mandatory stop on any trip to Italy, an invitation to savor the taste of tradition in every bite. Come hungry and leave happy—you won’t regret it!
“ Super authentic local place, excellent value. For the first plate, we had the duo of local pastas. Don't skip out on the lard with your bread! ”
“ An authentic restaurant with friendly service. Totally worth popping in for cold cuts and traditional pasta. ”
“ Order the prosciutto plate. It is delicious. ”
“ Typical restaurant of the region Piacentino. Tasty food, nice prices, portions are sufficient, tend to small. It’s not a fancy restaurant for romantic dining but it is a place where you come to eat well. ”
“ One of my favorite restaurants in the world, I've had the opportunity to come back yesterday after 15 years. The quality was the same as ever (simply excellent), the choice of wines having become wider. A mandatory tap during any trip to Italy. ”
“ Great local Piacentino food. We order the mista della casa, which lets you taste both local dishes. The pasta and beans are so good - kind of like little gnocchis in a tasty tomato sauce. The other house specialty are little candy shaped raviolis (handmade) basically with a delicious cheese and spinach filling and butter sauce. And then we had the penne arrabiata. The sauce was perfect. Also amazing salami appetizer. One of the best salami I’ve ever had. Great house wine. The staff was super nice and helped explain the dishes. Quaint little spot with great food. Highly recommend. ”
